As a Notary Public, I’ve always believed in the power of relationships, both with the clients we serve and the professionals we collaborate with. Recently, I had the pleasure of spending time in Duncan, BC, where I met with my colleague and fellow Notary, Kate Roome.
Kate and I go way back, and like any great catch-up, ours was filled with laughter, shared stories, and reflections on the work we do. Over breakfast and plenty of laughter, we caught up on practice life, community, and the changing role of Notaries in British Columbia.
One of the highlights of the visit was touring Kate’s office at Heartwood Notary Group. It’s a beautifully transformed home-turned-workspace that effortlessly balances professionalism with warmth. It’s a perfect example of how modern notary practices are evolving. Her space reminded me of how much our environments reflect our values: community-focused, client-centered, and approachable. I left inspired by how she’s reimagined her physical office to be both welcoming and efficient. It really is a place that serves people with heart and intention.
Relationships Matter
Strong professional relationships matter. Whether practicing in Victoria, Duncan, or elsewhere on Vancouver Island, collaboration and connection among notaries enhances the quality of service we provide to our clients.
Professional friendships are a reminder of why relationships matter in our line of work. When we support each other as professionals, we ultimately serve our clients better. We share ideas. We swap solutions. And we reinforce the integrity and trust that our communities place in us.
In a world that’s becoming more digital and transactional, it’s refreshing (and necessary) to slow down and connect in person. It’s these one-on-one conversations that remind me why I chose this profession. Being a Notary Public is not just about paperwork and signatures; it’s about guiding people through important life moments with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.
Choose Local
At Carter Notary, we believe strongly in this relational approach. We value staying connected with our peers and our community because we know that collaboration leads to better outcomes for everyone involved. Whether it’s working through a real estate transaction, creating a Will, or updating a Power of Attorney, we aim to provide services rooted in trust, understanding, and connection.
So here’s what I’ll say to anyone considering working with a Notary Public: choose local. Choose someone who’s invested in the same community you are… someone who sees you not just as a file, but as a neighbour.
I’m grateful to be part of a professional network that lifts each other up and a community that values meaningful service. If you’re looking for a Notary Public who cares about relationships just as much as results, I’d love to welcome you to Carter Notary. Book an appointment so we can help you with life’s notable moments.
