By Beverly Carter, Notary Public – Carter Notary, Victoria, BC
Last year I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Sri Lanka with eleven amazing women. It was an unforgettable adventure filled with beautiful scenery, meaningful conversations, new experiences, and plenty of laughter.
While I was there, I snapped a photo with my friend, Cathy. At first glance, it might just look like two friends enjoying an adventure on the other side of the world. But it’s so much more than that! Six Think Local First Victoria member businesses were represented in that single picture.
And that is the inspiration for Carter Notary’s newest social media game: Spot the Local Businesses!
Hidden in plain sight are SIX Think Local First Victoria member businesses that travelled with us without ever needing a passport. Your challenge is to spot and name all six businesses represented in the photo.
The clues are everywhere. Pay close attention to what we’re wearing, what we’re holding, and even how this trip came together in the first place. Some clues may be obvious, while others might require a little detective work. We’ll be releasing clues on social media for seven days to help participants uncover the answers.
Prizes Alert!
There are six prizes available, one from each of the businesses represented in the photo. That means multiple chances to win and multiple reasons to participate.

✔ Being part of something bigger
As President of Think Local First and as the owner of Carter Notary, I see firsthand the impact that local businesses have on our community. Membership isn’t passive for us at Think Local First. It’s about participation. It’s about showing up for one another, supporting local businesses, and strengthening our local economy together. Think Local First exists for the community. Our mission is to help people discover trusted local businesses, support entrepreneurs who give back, and keep dollars circulating locally.
And here’s the best part: you don’t need to own a business to be involved. Being a cheerleader matters too. Help us spread the word of Think Local First!
