In British Columbia, a Power of Attorney does not work for making health decisions.
In British Columbia we have two separate documents. We have a Power of Attorney which covers only legal and financial matters.
We have a separate law that allows you to make a Health Representation Agreement that does cover health decision making. In that document you appoint the person to make the decisions when you can’t make your own.
So between the Power of Attorney for financial and legal matters, and the Health Representation Agreement, you have full coverage for somebody to step in and help you when you can’t manage your own life.
Contact Carter Notary today to find out how we can help you establish your Power of Attorney and Health Representation Agreement.
